Astragraphia Encourages The Growth of Local Creative Industry
PT Astra Graphia Tbk together with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy as well as the Indonesian Visual Communication Design Professional Association (AIDIA) held a discussion with the media about the role of Graphic Designer for Local Industries at Kolega Store, Yogyatourium Dagadu Djokdja. Based on data from the Creative Economy Agency, the biggest contribution of the creative economy sub-sector to GDP was the culinary sector by 41.40%, fashion by 18.01%, and craft (packaging, packaging) by 15.40% while the DKV, Film / Animation / Video, Performing Arts and TV / Radio are the four potential subsectors that experienced the highest growth in 2016.
Yuana Rochma Astuti - Director of Domestic Market Development, Deputy of Marketing for the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Baparekraf) said, "The existence of Indonesia's creative industry has become the driving force of the national economy. DKV is one of the four eco graphic subsectors that experienced rapid growth where DKV grew 8.98% in 2016.1 This shows that DKV has an important role and is able to have a large impact on the economy creative subsector such as culinary, fashion, and crafts. "
Quoting data from the portal of the Provincial Government of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), the growth of the creative industry in DIY has grown rapidly in the past decade. There are more than 172 thousand creative economic actors, of which the five largest subsectors are engaged in the culinary, craft, fashion, publishing, and photography businesses. The culinary subsector is around 106 thousand businesses, 36 thousand crafts, 23 thousand fashion businesses, 3 thousand business publishing, and about one thousand business photography, plus many digital creative industries.
Yuana Rochma Astuti - Director of Domestic Market Development, Marketing Deputy of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Baparekraf) added, "Yogyakarta is one of the five provinces in Indonesia, the biggest contributor to GDP Ekraf in 2016, where the three largest subsectors are engaged in the culinary, craft, and fashion. The three sub-sectors require the existence of graphic design to support the creative industry in creating attractive product displays such as packaging, labeling, or catalogs. Yogyakarta is also one of the provinces with the largest distribution of DKV creative actors besides Bandung and DKI Jakarta. The increasing need for Visual Communication Design has an impact on other creative economic sectors. A unique, modern, and colorful appearance will multiply the value of a creative product so that it can compete in the market. "

Visual communication design or graphic design is an important element, especially in creating a first impression of the appearance of a product. An attractive display of visual identity, both from the story, shape, color, graphics and print quality, will be able to give a good impression of existing products. "
