Come on, Save Energy Together with Fuji Xerox
Has it ever occurred to us that the use of everyday work tools contributed to environmental damage? Maybe many of us are not aware, it turns out that even the smallest amount of energy we use will have an impact on environmental damage. Take for example, when we turn on a 5-watt lamp at home, then we will take the power supply provided by PLN at 5 watts. Imagine if at the same time one million people like you turn on the same light, then around 5 million watts of electricity will be used.
Then what is the relation between electric power and natural damage? As a result of excessive electricity consumption, the two main consequences that arise are the imbalance of inter-island electricity supply, pollution, and inefficiency in the use of fossil fuels. Quoting a statement from WWF, the fact that most power plants in Indonesia use fossil fuels shows that the electricity sector has the potential to be one of the biggest contributors to carbon dioxide emissions in Indonesia even in the Asia Pacific region.
The World Resources Institute (WRI) in its analysis placed Indonesia as the 21st highest producer of carbon dioxide emissions in the world in 2000. Indonesia's carbon dioxide emissions produced by the energy sector alone reached 1.2% of the total carbon dioxide emissions (78 million tons of CO2). While the amount of carbon dioxide emissions per person in Indonesia is 0.4 tons or is ranked 108th in the world.
Realizing this phenomenon, Fuji Xerox as a manufacturer of devices that also consume electricity is not just sitting idly by. Through the technology applied in each device, it allows saving electricity consumption compared to other similar devices.
As a concrete step, Fuji Xerox made a long-term energy savings plan since 1997, for example by cutting electricity power consumption from photocopiers and multifunctional devices, and accelerating development efforts in creating energy-saving technologies. Electricity consumption per device has been reduced by around 45 percent in 2008 compared to 1997, and Fuji Xerox also reduced the total power consumption of Fuji Xerox copiers / multifunction devices in the Japanese market by around 22 percent. As a result, around 670,000 tons of CO2 have been reduced in eleven years (1998-2008).
Not only that, in February 2009, Fuji Xerox set a target of reducing greenhouse gases by 2020, by reducing the power consumption per device by 80 percent from 2005. Well, of course, there is no reason for you environmentalists not to use Fuji Xerox products as a work tool in your company.
